Andy Paul has a voice that comes from heaven,Andy Paul a Greek Cypriot who immigrated to the UK in the early 60s knew he wanted to be a pop star like his childhood Idols. Elvis/ Cliff Richard and Later Years, Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdink, who were such an influence to him in his younger years .

 

Blessed with a talent that would in time fill the minds and hearts of many people Andy Paul grew as a preformer and as a song writer.

Andy's first song was a simple melody entitled Heartbreak SituationProduced by the now world famous Stock Aitkin and Ware. In the months that followed, a second release gave Andy Paul his first big break, the song was Anna Marie Elena a song that Andy wrote and entered in the Cypriot Eurovision Song Contest, the song went on to win the national contest, and was the entry for Cyprus in 1984. This was to be the first international hit for Stock Aitkin and Waterman's Hit

The next six years saw Andy touring extensively throughout Europe, gaining a following and many successes. In 1986 Andy released a smash Disco song with the title Now That I Found You an instant disco hit in Europe and in Greece. By now I think you will have gathered Andy has had all his success in Europe, the UK market has not been to kind to Andy and many others who gained there fame from the Eurovision stage, one other Eurovision artist that comes to mind is Johnny Logan a major artist in Europe, but a virtual unknown in the UK.

 

Andy Paul started his career in a pub sponsored by Bob Whitley singing in a talent contest. encouraged by his friends and family to enter, he won first prize with his impersonation of his childhood Idol Elvis Presley, his show was so good The Whitley Taverns gave him a contract. Andy went on to sing in top venues throughout the UK until his big hit with Anna Marie Elena although he was greek, he had very litlle contact with the Greek community, he was more of an English artist.

 

After the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest every thing changed for Andy he became a big star in the greek music Industry, and supported giant names such as Demis Rousos at the Royal Festival Hall, and worked with others in Greece and Cyprus.
